Wayne and Calista's South Africa Safari
by Wayne Herbert, Huston, TX, USA

South Africa is a unique country.  The landscape and terrain are different than most anything in the United States, and it is some of the most marvelous countryside we have ever seen.

The country is home to some of the most wild life rich game preserves in the world; many of the pictures included in this report were taken in Kruger National Park.

The people are fascinating.  There are 11 official languages in the country, including English, Afrikaans, and 9 native languages* which include Zulu and Sotho.  You will find the very rich and very poor.

In spite of years of turmoil created by the apartheid state, the transition to majority black democratic rule has been accomplished with very little political violence.  Yet, much remains to be done to right past injustice and improve the economic lot of many who are still in poverty.

Lets start the journey, follow us to Johannesburg (click here)

We left Houston at 4 PM on a Saturday afternoon and arrived in London nine hours  later.  It was 7 AM there, 1 AM Houston time.
